WT Open Qualification Tournament I for Wuxi 2019 World Taekwondo Grand Slam Champions Series Wuxi, China, April. 26-28 2019.
Day 3 – Report
China and Korea clinched 1 more title each on the closing day of action at Wuxi 2019 Grand Slam Qualification Tournament, which wrapped up today. The double Olympic champion and local idol Jingyu Wu proved she’s back for good into the highest level of Taekwondo and added another gold medal to her large collection after edging Bora Kang from Korea by 9-5 and 18-4 in the first two rounds. The other gold of the day was taken by Hwan Namgoong from Korea, who tasted glory after beating the local hope in the final, Chen, by 6-0, 4-0 and 6-3 in three rounds.
With these results, China qualified 4 more athletes for the main event, while Korea placed 2 fighters as well in December’s main event.

Day 2 – Report
China won all nine medals awarded on Saturday to secure nine more athletes at Wuxi 2019 Grand Slam Series, to be held next December as the closing event of the year on the World Taekwondo calendar.
The three Chinese champions of the second day of competition were: Hongyi Sun, who proved to be the strongest athlete in the Men’s +80 kg division after getting rid of Tian in the big final of the draw by 8-6, 8-2 and 10-5 in the first three rounds; Yushuai Liang, who proved to be the best in Men’s -58 kg after beating Tian in the gold medal match by 9-1, 9-4 and 10-7 in the first three rounds; and Lijun Zhou, who defeated Luo by 2-0 and 3-0 in the first two rounds to grab the Women’s -67 kg title.

Day 1 – Report
China collected all 3 gold medals awarded on the first day of action at the Qualification Tournament I for Wuxi 2019 World Taekwondo Grand Slam 2019. Chinese athletes also won 2 silvers and 2 bronzes on Friday.
All 3 medallits of the 8 categories involved in the event will qualify for the Wuxi 2019 World Taekwondo Grand Slam Series, to be held in December. In total, 7 Chinese fighters and 2 Koreans have qualified today for the main event.
Korea was the only other country to reach the podium, taking 1 silver and 1 bronze.
The Chinese winners of the day were: Shuyin Zheng, Olympic champion and current world number 2 in the Olympic ranking, added another title to her collection after beating her compatriot Juan Shui in the Women’s +67 kg final by winning the two first rounds of by 2-0 and 8-0; Shuai Zhao, who reigned in Men’s -68 kg after defeating another Chinese athlete, Seok-bae Kim, by winning the first round by 9-0, equalizing in the second 5-5 and winning in the third by a clear 16-1; and Yunfei Guo, who got rid of her teammate Mengyu Zhang after winning the second round by 2-1 and scoring in the gold medal period through a head kick (3-0).
