2017Anyang World Taekwondo Hanmadang, the grand festival of world Taekwondo family co-hosted together by Kukkiwon (president Oh Hyeon-Deuk) and Anyang-si(mayor Lee Pil-Woon), kicks off the opening ceremony for four-day heated contest.

All Taekwondo and sports field authorities such as Dr. UnYong Kim(the former vice chairperson of IOC), Hong Sung-Chon (Chairpersonof Kukkiwon), Oh Hyeon-Deuk(the president of Kukkiwon), Kim Gyeong-Deok(the president of Gyeong-gi-do Taekwondo Association), Yu Seung-Min(IOC Member), etc. as well as Lee Pil-Woon (the mayor of Anyang City), Park Chan-Ho (the chairperson of World Taekwondo Hanmadang OrganizingCommittee), Kim Dae-Yeong(the president of Anyang city Council), local governmentauthorities, etc. participated in and celebrated the openingceremonyat 3 p.m. on July 29th (Saturday), the first day of Hanmadang with more than 6,000 athletes and spectators.

Mr. Oh Hyeon-Deuk, president of Kukkiwon, said through opening address, “I’m very glad to hold the World Taekwondo Hanmadang in Anyang, the central city leading the development of Korea. Although the way to develop Hanmadang as the largest festival for world Taekwondo family more is still far, I believe that we will reach it soon if there are your continuous attention and support. I ask you to give a lot of attention and love from now on.”

Mr. Lee Pil-Woon, the mayor of Anyang city, said at the welcoming speech, “Including the organization committee, citizens, related institutions, and Anyang citycombined, putting our heads together and communicating. I wish you can experience ‘unifyingworld through Taekwondo’ really, and I hope that Anyang cityis remembered deeply in the mind as the city where people all around the world want to visit again through this event.”

Dr. UnYong Kim, the former vice president of IOC, delivered the congratulatory speech, “Taekwondo, the Olympic sport which has its roots in Korea, needs an effort to keep the martial spirit and tradition as martial art sports. I wish all of you gathered here unite and have a chance to train and develop yourselves through World Taekwondo Hanmadang.”

Mr. Hong Seong-Cheon, chairperson of Kukkiwon, who gave the next congratulatory message said, “World Taekwondo Hanmadang has a great cultural power that people all around the world can share friendship by sharing the one culture called Taekwondo despite their different race, country, region, or ideology. I ask all Taekwondo family joining this event to show your skill that you have improved fully through Taekwondo training, and I hope that the message of hope and bravery echoes all around the world through all of you.”

In the opening on the day, there were various celebration events which fascinated all audience who filled up Anyang Indoor Gymnasium: performance by ‘Taharang’ Concert Party toward North Korea, performance by Saxophonist Sim Sang-Jong, a male quartet performance, performance by Soprano Seo Hwal-Lan, showing a celebration video about harmony of Taekwondo and 4th Industry, demonstration by trainees of ‘2017 Cultural Program Initiative by the Kukkiown’, Taekwondo performance of the disabled, and so on.

Especially, Mr. Oh Hyeon-Deuk president of Kukkiwon focused the attention by wearing a Taekwondo Dobok(uniform) with a Hanmadang emblem carved on the chest and showing powerful breaking at the celebration event.

President Oh performed various powerful breaking by flat spear finger thrust (Pyeon-son-kkeut uppeo-jjireu-gi), Ap-chagi-앞차기(front kick), Yeop-chagi-옆차기(side kick) Dwi-chagi-뒤차기(back kick) etc. and then he broke all 15 pieces of marble by his elbow, who fully showed mighty aspect of Taekwondo-in.

Also, the Taekwondo performance of the challenged showed the touching performance with a plot that Master Han Gook-Hyeon(physical disability), a national Taekwondo player, taught a bullied child Taekwondo, and the child overcame the bullying through Taekwondo.

The climax of the Opening was decorated by Kukkiwon Taekwondo demonstration team.

Kukkiwon Taekwondo demonstration team showed the performance by the theme ‘a lamp lighting up the world’ with the content that the tough spirit of Korean within the power of Taekwondo spread toward the world is communicated as world language and it makes a united world for 15 minutes.

Hanmadang that starts a heated contest will show performances in 68 fields of 13 subjects in total as 5,732 Takwondo athletes from 64 countries in the world join to August 1st (Tuesday) for 4 days at Anyang Indoor Gymnasium.

국기원(원장 오현득)과 안양시(시장 이필운)가 공동으로 주최한 지구촌 태권도 가족의 대축제 ‘2017 안양 세계태권도한마당(이하 한마당)’이 개회식을 시작으로 나흘간의 열전에 돌입했다.

한마당 첫날인 7월 29일(토) 오후 3시에 열린 개회식은 약 6천명의 관중이 운집한 가운데 김운용 전 국제올림픽위원회(IOC) 부위원장, 홍성천 국기원 이사장, 오현득 국기원 원장, 김경덕 경기도협회장, 유승민 IOC 선수위원 등 태권도와 체육계 관계자를 비롯해 이필운 안양시장, 박찬호 세계태권도한마당 조직위원장, 김대영 안양시의회 의장 지역 관계자,등이 참석해 한마당 개최를 축하했다.

오현득 국기원 원장은 개회사를 통해 “세계태권도한마당이 대한민국의 성장을 이끄는 중심 도시인 안양시에서 개최하게 된 것을 매우 기쁘게 생각한다. 세계태권도한마당이 지구촌 태권도 가족들의 최대 축제로 더욱 발전하기 위해서 가야할 길이 멀지만, 여러분의 변치 않는 관심과 응원이 있다면, 머지않아 도달할 수 있을 것이라 믿는다. 앞으로도 많은 관심과 애정을 부탁드린다” 고 말했다.

이필운 안양시장은 환영사에서 “조직위원회를 비롯해 시민과 유관기관, 안양시가 함께 머리를 맞대고 소통하며 힘을 합쳤다. 이번 행사를 통해 진정 ‘태권도로 하나되는 세상’을 경험하시길 바라며, 안양이 세계인이 다시 찾고 싶은 도시로 마음 깊이 기억되기를 희망한다“고 말했다.

김운용 전 IOC 부위원장은 “한국에 뿌리를 둔 올림픽 태권도는 무도스포츠로서 무도정신과 전통을 유지하는 노력이 필요하다. 이 자리에 모인 모든 여러분이 세계태권도한마당을 통해 단합하고 정진하고 성장하는 기회가 되길 기원한다”고 축하의 인사를 전했다.

이어서 축사를 한 홍성천 국기원 이사장은 “세계태권도한마당은 인종, 국가, 지역, 이념이 달라도 태권도라는 하나의 문화를 공유하면서 우정을 나눌 수 있는 것처럼 문화 큰 힘을 가지고 있다. 참가하신 모든 태권도 가족 여러분은 태권도 수련을 통해 그동안 갈고 닦은 기량을 유감없이 발휘해 주시고, 여러분을 통해 희망과 용기의 메시지가 온 세상에 울려 퍼지기를 바란다”고 말했다.

이날 개회식은 ‘타하랑’ 대북연주단 공연, 심상종 색소포니스트 연주, 남성 4중창단 공연, 소프라노 서활란 씨의 공연, 태권도와 4차 산업의 조화를 다룬 기념영상 상영, ‘2017 국기원 태권도 지도자 초청 연수프로그램’ 연수생 시범, 장애인 태권도 공연 등 다채로운 축하행사가 펼쳐져 안양실내체육관을 가득 메운 관중들을 매료시켰다.

특히 축하행사는 오현득 국기원 원장이 직접 한마당 엠블럼이 가슴에 새겨져 있는 태권도복을 차려입고, 위력격파 시범을 펼쳐 이목을 집중시켰다.

오 원장은 편손끝 엎어찌르기, 앞차기, 옆차기, 뒤차기 등 다양한 위력격파에 이어 15장의 대리석을 팔꿈치로 완파하며, 강인한 태권도인의 면모를 유감없이 드러냈다.

또한 장애인 태권도 공연은 우리나라 장애인 태권도 국가대표인 한국현 사범(지체 장애)이 집단 따돌림을 받는 어린이에게 태권도를 가르치게 되고, 어린이가 태권도를 통해 이를 극복한다는 줄거리로 공연을 펼쳐 감동을 선사했다.

개회식의 대미는 국기원태권도시범단이 장식했다.

국기원태권도시범단은 ‘세상을 밝히는 등불’이라는 주제로 세계로 뻗어나간 태권도의 힘과 그 안에 깃든 한국인의 강인한 정신이 세계인의 언어로 소통돼 하나의 세상을 만들어 간다는 내용으로 15분간 시범을 펼쳤다.

열전에 돌입한 한마당은 오는 8월 1일(화)까지 나흘간 안양실내체육관에서 세계 64개국 5,732명의 태권도인들이 참가해 총 13개 종목 68개 부문에서 경연을 펼친다.

한마당 둘째 날인 30일(일)은 개인전 △위력격파(손날격파, 옆차기‧뒤차기격파) △종합격파 △기록경연(높이뛰어격파, 속도격파) △공인품새, 단체전 △공인품새 △창작품새 △태권체조 △팀 대항 종합경연, 시범경기(단별 공인품새) 등의 경연이 진행된다.
