2020 Taekwondowon(TPF) Starts Regular Performance, ‘The Great Change’
- Holds Regular Performance Once~Twice A Day Until End of December-
-‘Taekwondo Experience Program, Pictures with Performance Group Members’-
Taekwondo Promotion Foundation (Chairman : Sangwook Lee) will be holding Taekwondo & Percussion Performance, ‘The Great Change’, as Taekwondowon’s regular performance in 2020.
‘The Great change’ will be performed at Taekwondowon’s T1 Performance Hall until December and the performance combines Taekwondo and Korean traditional music together. The story is about changing the body and mind through Taekwondo training and it reflects the meaning of growing healthy body, benevolent mind, and wise spirit and Taekwondo leading ‘Great Change/ Body, Benevolence, Wisdom’.
The 25-minute long performance involves performances including high-level smashing, creative poomsae, and percussion performance. Also, audiences of all ages, genders, and nationality will be enjoying proud Korean cultural assets such as taekwondo and Korean traditional music.
In addition, audiences can take pictures with performance group members after ‘The Great Change’ performance and anyone visiting Taekwondowon can enjoy free Taekwondo Experience program such as ‘Taekwon Dance, Taekwon Kick’ at T1 Performance Hall.
Chairman Sangwook Lee of Taekwondo Promotion Foundation said “We hope more people to enjoy Taekwondowon’s regular performance with smashing, poomsae, and exciting Korean traditional music beat. Our Taekwondo Promotion Foundation will try our best together with Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to revitalize Taekwondo by operating Taekwondowon and carrying out cultural diplomacy with Taekwondo, and spreading and promoting Taekwondo in domestic and overseas regions”.
Taekwondowon’s regular performance ‘The Great Change’ will be held on once a day in weekdays (14:00 PM) and twice a day on weekends and holidays for January, February, November, and December. For March ~ October, performance will be held twice a day (11:00 AM, 14:00 PM).
*Performance won’t be held when Taekwondowon is closed including every Monday.

-‘태권도 체험 프로그램, 공연단원과의 기념촬영’도-
태권도진흥재단(이사장 이상욱, TPF))은 태권타악퍼포먼스 ‘The Great Change’를 2020년 태권도원 상설공연으로 운영한다.
태권도원 T1공연장에서 12월까지 진행될 ‘The Great Change’는 태권도와 국악이 접목된 공연이다. 태권도 수련을 통해 몸과 마음을 바르게 변화시켜간다는 내용으로, 건강한 육체와 어진 마음, 슬기로운 정신을 키워 ‘위대한 변화(Change / (체(體)·인(認)·지(至)’로 태권도가 이끌어 간다는 의미를 담고 있다.
25분여간 진행되는 공연에서는 태권도 고난도 격파와 창작 품새 그리고 사물놀이, 타악 퍼포먼스 등을 선보인다. 남녀노소, 내외국인을 막론하고 태권도와 국악 등 자랑스러운 대한민국의 문화유산을 즐길 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.
또한, ‘The Great Change’공연이 끝난 후에는 공연단원과의 기념촬영을 비롯해 ‘태권댄스, 태권발차기’ 등 태권도원 방문객 누구나 참가할 수 있는 태권도 무료 체험프로그램이 T1공연장에서 진행된다.
태권도진흥재단 이상욱 이사장은 “격파와 품새 그리고 신명나는 국악장단이 함께하는 태권도원 상설공연을 많이 관람해주시기 바란다”라며 “태권도진흥재단은 태권도원 운영을 비롯해 태권도공공문화외교, 국내외 태권도 진흥·보급 등 태권도 활성화를 위해 문화체육관광부와 함께 최선의 노력을 다하겠다”라고 했다.
한편, 2020년 태권도원 상설공연 ‘The Great Change’는 1월·2월·11월·12월에는 평일 1회(14시), 주말·공휴일 2회(11시, 14시) 공연이 진행되고, 3월∼10월까지는 매일 2회(11시, 14시) 공연을 선보인다.※단, 매주 월요일 등 태권도원 휴관일에는 미운영.
