The 43rd Geumsan World Ginseng Festival is being held grandly from September 19 to 28 at the Geumsan Expo Square and the auxiliary venue under the theme of "I love you, children."

The 5th Geumsan International Martial Arts Olympiad (President Oh No-Kyun, Organizing Committee Chairman Yoo Tae-sik, held from 18th to 21st) was a health martial arts competition that incorporated elements of daily sports and was held with great interest from domestic and foreign martial artists.
In particular, traditional martial arts, performing arts, and experience events were combined, and an international festival was held that combined ginseng culture and martial arts culture.
It has implemented a martial arts festival that encompasses all ages by participating from 102 senior to 6 year old infants.
In Korea, about 1,200 people participated in various events such as Taekwondo, Hapkido, Cheonmuguk, Captain martial arts, and Kwonbeop.
Overseas, about 230 athletes from 31 countries, including the United States, Japan, Nepal, Malaysia, China, Mongolia, Kenya, Thailand, Vietnam, and Indonesia, participated.
In particular, 235 senior citizens aged 65 or older participated in the health contest, which was considered the highlight of the competition.
Traditional dances and K-pop performances were harmonized on stage, along with traditional martial arts events (Takwondo, karate, kendo, dangsu, Shaolin martial arts, etc.).
The traditional breaking contest was held 16 times, centered on college students and teenagers, and became popular as a participatory program involving more than 550 citizens.
In addition, the U.S. leader Mudeokgwan's demonstration, the captain's martial arts demonstration by Ambassador Yeonggyu, and a special competition by the Japanese family team were on stage to catch the attention of visitors.
In addition to martial arts events, festival experience programs such as ginseng digging and ginseng herbal street experience were also held, allowing participants to experience ginseng and martial arts culture at the same time.
On September 20, Korean and Japanese martial arts athletes held a World Cleanup Day event together, adding to the internationality and social significance of the festival.
The opening ceremony was attended by high-ranking foreign officials, including the ambassador to Turkiye, to support the festival's international status.
During the festival, a free hanbok experience program was operated to encourage domestic and foreign visitors to participate.
In this competition, Captain Martial Arts of Yeonggyu Ambassador, a local martial art in Geumsan, received attention, and at the request of the heads of the participating countries, it was decided to distribute Captain Martial Arts to nine overseas cities.
Cities to be distributed include Seattle, USA, Kumamoto and Chiba, Japan, Taipei, Taiwan, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, Da Nang, Vietnam, Melbourne, Australia, and China.
The Captain Martial Arts Preservation Association (Chairman Kim Kyu-chul) plans to strengthen training sessions for local leaders and demonstration teams to help them settle in the region.
This spread is expected to be an opportunity for Geumsan captain martial arts to be known to world martial artists, and it is in line with the globalization trend of traditional Korean life martial arts.
Many say that the martial arts Olympiad has become a venue for cultural exchanges between generations and countries beyond simple competitions.
In particular, there are many reactions that the strategies for grafting daily sports, such as health-oriented martial arts competitions and strengthening participatory programs, were effective.
Park Beom-in, governor of Geumsan-gun, said, "We sincerely welcome domestic and foreign martial artists to Geumsan, and we hope that it will be a healthy and safe martial arts event in the scent of ginseng."

제43회 금산세계인삼축제가 “애들아 사랑한다”를 주제로 9월 19일부터 28일까지 금산 엑스포 광장 일원 및 부대 행사장에서 성대하게 개최되고 있다.
축제기간중 동시에 열린 제5회 금산국제무예올림피아드 (대회장 오노균, 조직위원장 유태식, 18일~21일 개최)는 생활체육적 요소를 접목한 건강 무예 경연으로 국내외 무예인들의 큰 관심 속에 진행되었다.
특히 전통무예, 공연예술, 체험 행사가 어우러지며 인삼문화와 무예문화가 결합된 국제적 축제의 장이 펼쳐졌다.
102세 원로부터 6세 유아까지 출전하며 전 연령대를 아우르는 무예 축제를 구현했다.
국내에서는 태권도, 합기도, 천무극, 선장무예, 권법 등 다양한 종목에 약 1,200여 명이 참여하였다.
해외에서는 미국, 일본, 네팔, 말레이시아, 중국, 몽골, 케냐, 태국, 베트남, 인도네시아 등 31개국, 약 230여 명의 선수단이 참가하였다.
특히 65세 이상 시니어 235명이 출전한 건강품새 대회는 대회 백미로 꼽혔다.
전통무예 종목(태권도, 가라데, 검도, 당수도, 소림무술 등)과 더불어 전통춤, K-POP 공연이 무대에서 조화를 이루었다.
전통격파경연은 대학생, 청소년 중심으로 총 16회 진행되었고, 연인원 550여 명의 시민이 참여한 참여형 프로그램으로 인기를 끌었다.
또한, 미국 당수도 무덕관 원로 시범, 영규대사의 선장무예 시연, 일본 가족팀의 특별경연 등이 무대에 올라 관람객들의 시선을 사로잡았다.
무예 행사 외에도 인삼 캐기, 인삼 약초거리 체험 등 축제 체험 프로그램이 병행되어 참가자들이 인삼과 무예 문화를 동시에 경험할 수 있었다.
9월 20일에는 한·일 무예 선수들이 함께 세계청소의 날(World Cleanup Day) 행사를 개최해 축제의 국제성과 사회적 의미를 더했다.
개막식에는 주한 튀르키예 대사 등 해외 고위 인사들이 참석해 축제의 국제적 위상을 뒷받침했다.
축제 기간 중 무료 한복체험 프로그램 등이 운영되며 국내외 방문객의 참여를 유도하였다.
이번 대회에서는 금산 지방의 향토 무예인 영규대사 선장무예가 주목받았으며, 참가국 단장들의 요청에 따라 해외 9개 도시에 선장무예를 보급하기로 결정되었다.
보급 대상 도시는 미국 시애틀, 일본 구마모토·치바, 대만 타이베이, 말레이시아 쿠알라룸푸르, 몽골 울란바토르, 베트남 다낭, 호주 멜번, 중국 위해 등이다.
선장무예보존회(회장 김규철)는 현지 지도자 강습회 및 시범단 수련회를 강화해 현지에 정착할 수 있도록 지원할 계획이다.
이러한 보급은 금산 선장무예가 세계 무예인들에게 알려지는 계기가 될 전망이며, 한국 전통 생활무예의 세계화 흐름에 부합한다.
이번 무예 올림피아드는 단순한 경기 대회를 넘어 세대 간, 국가 간 문화 교류의 장이 되었다는 평가가 많다.
특히 건강 중심의 무예 경연, 참여형 프로그램 강화 등 생활체육 접목 전략이 주효했다는 반응이 많다.
